In Sep 21, 1999, 01:47am, a Richter Scale 7.3 earthquake hit Central Taiwan.
I was in my third year of junior high school.
Almost nine years from now.
I still remembered how floors were shaking at that moment.
Lights were out, and everything was falling down from its original places.
 

We ran out of the house then stayed at the open area beside my house, waiting the quake to stop. A few neighbors came to stay with us too. That night it was pretty cold, time passed so slow. The earth was shaking continuously, sometimes heavy sometimes light. Breaking sound of windows, fallen things and buildings came from everywhere. I even afraid that whether the ground would crack open, and I would fall in got hurt. How terrible that will be.

 

When morning came, the quake began to stop. I could not recall the details exactly, just remembered we went to stay in my uncle’s factory for a few days. All relatives in Puli gather here, living in the truck and tent. Two of my uncles(大伯和四叔) living in Taipei drove to here and brought us some goods. Then we moved to Yuan-lin, ChanhHua stayed in another relative’s house. We stayed there about a week or so, my parents decided to bring my brother and me to Taipei for school. Because our school buildings collapsed during the huge quake, the school had been suspended since then. We went to Taipei for about a week, the school in Puli began. Therefore, we came back to Puli. I thought my brother adjusted the life in Taipei quite well, but for me I missed my home in Puli. HA~

 

It was glad that my dad built a strong house. He oversaw the construction of our house, also joined in. My mom said Dad was crazy at that time. It has been under construction when I was born. My house is as old as I am.
